Not much has been happening lately – so not much occasion to blog.
It’s still hot and humid – and we know every inch of the two closest big malls to us, Emirates Mall and Ibn Battuta, as a visit there is a respite from being at home and walking around counts as exercise.
Well, I finally took the plunge and bought the second car. After much research and soul searching, decided that the best option would be to buy a saloon car for the commute – and the best bang-for-buck model would be a new Honda Accord. However, having been a BMW driver back in the UK, the heart wanted a new 5 series.
I asked a few friends for advice and the over-whelming response was ‘go with the heart and get a beemer’ – ‘you’ll regret it if you don’t’ etc etc. Only one person said go with the Honda.
Anyhoo – looked around for a bit and by a major piece of luck found a 2006 530i black, and loaded with toys. Saw the car on Wednesday and picked it up yesterday. Too many toys to list..and to be frank I haven’t been able to go through the manual yet!
This means that Zareen is now mobile, and she is enjoying driving the big Landcruiser – made it to the mall yesterday in one piece 🙂
Another personal milestone was passed last week when I started an Arabic language class – one month course for Beginners 1 (to be followed by 2 more beginners courses and 3 intermediate courses). These normally last a term of 2 and bit months, but over summer they do one month courses of 3 2hr lessons a week, for 5 weeks. 5th lesson is tonight and the words/grammar and writing are slowly sinking in.
Work is very quiet – more than half the department is on summer holiday, only 2 of us and the secretary at work. Have booked holiday to Mauritius at the end of the year – something to look forward to.
